Vanessa Anne Hudgens was born in Salinas, California. Her family moved to San Diego, California, while she was still a toddler. She has a younger sister, Stella Hudgens, who is also an actress. Her mother, Gina Hudgens (née Guangco), an office worker, is from the Philippines. Her father, Greg Hudgens, a firefighter, was from a family from Missouri and Illinois.

Vanessa was interested in acting and singing at a young age, inspired by her grandparents, who were musicians. At the age of 8, she started appearing in musical theater. She fell deeper in love with the arts and began studying acting, singing, and dance more seriously with Jailyn Osborne. Vanessa very briefly attended Orange County High School of the Arts. After years of auditioning, she began seeing some success. This prompted her family to move to Los Angeles, California. She started homeschooling, so she missed out on the high school experience, and she finally landed her breakthrough role in High School Musical (2006).

And I'm not sure I'm even buying that underage claim. Those photos look more recent to me than the ones that were leaked a couple of years ago. Plus she has a navel ring. That wasn't in the older photos, supposedly taken around the same time. I don't think she had one until very recently. Her hair looked much different in the older set too. The hair in this newer set looks very similar to the way she has it now. I think there's something fishy going on here. Her lawyers wouldn't lie about her age just to get these things off the net, would they? Hmmmmmm.....

I agree....and last time she had a bush, now she has just a landing strip.....probably from people making jokes about all the pubic hair. These are newer than the last ones which were taken when she was 18 I believe.

oh man. i actually felt really bad for vanessa on last night's teen choice awards. i didn't see the actual show but you can find the scene on youtube.

dane cook goes up to present something and he then says something along the lines of "i need to say something that needs to be said". he then looks out to the crowd and asks "where's vanessa hudgens?" the camera then shows vanessa getting excited and slightly sitting up a little and waving her hands up in the air. the crowd is cheering. then dane yells "girl when will you learn to keep your clothes on" or something like that. the camera then goes back to vanessa and you can see that she's totally humiliated. i'm pretty sure she was feeling the hot feeling you get when you get embarrased in front of people. she just shrunk right back into her seat. she's trying to get past all this by going to events and such and dane just threw it right out at her.
