By the end of the 70'es, the boom era of French erotic-pornographic cinema was over, mainly because of the new tax law on those kind of films. However, it was the beginning of « pop » movies which also liked to display more than your average nudity. It was time for some underground artists to experiment on celluloid. For example WHAT A FLASH assembled as many famous people of the seventies available, in a giant before-the-end-of-the world orgy. In another direction, Raymond Lewyn, a famous cabaret/theater creator in France, did IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT,DON'T DISGUST THE OTHER (word to word translation). The film is showing the screening of a hard core porno in a small cinema where everybody comment and react to what they see on the screen. As it is pointed in the credits, « the dialogs have been fully improvised by the comedians». This is clearly a sort of cinematic happening and has to be classified has one of those UFO (unidentified Filmic Object). Although you need to be fluent in French to appreciate the vivacity of the dialog, this is a must see for the amateurs of unusual. The film inside the film is a satire of all the classic porn situation and figure a few Jess Franco regulars. Also the comedians playing the « punters » of the screening , are nowadays world famous in France and it is funny to see them making they first steps.

Jacques lives with his girlfriend (Liliane Lemieuvre) and her sister (Frédérique - Cathy Stewart) lives with them. The film opens with his coming home from work at night. He seems to be an airline pilot. He encounters Frédérique who is still up. He tells her to go to bed and joins his sleeping girlfriend who wakes up and starts making love to him once he is asleep. Next door, the young sister listens to what's going on and it obviously turns her on.
The next morning, while her sister is in the kitchen, Frédérique joins Jacques in his bedroom and makes it clear she wants more than just family bonds. But things won't go further than a blowjob as the sister comes back and prepares herself for the day. He tells her he's got an appointment in the afternoon, but we understand he's going to see the sister who happens not to have school that day.
So they are off to a nice lover's day in Paris. The season is obviously winter, but this doesn't prevent them from making love in a park (near Le Palais de Chaillot as far as I can see).
Later his girlfriend starts another sex session in the bedroom but Frédérique is watching behind the door and Jacques cuts the scene short. Too tired, he says.
The love affair between Jacques and Frédérique has been going on for a few days when one night the elder sister - and soon former girlfriend - welcomes them coldly as she has now understood everything. But friends have shown up and the time is ripe for a nice cosy evening with Carmelo, Suzanne, Michel, Claire, Myriam, Mario and Richard. After the party he realises she's gone. He then momentarily tries to find solace in Myriam's mouth but Frédérique has left his life empty. Both start strolling in Paris to bring back memories until they see one another on a bridge behind the Cathédrale Notre-dame and fall in one another's arms.

Those who have seen other Nick Millard films (ie Gunilla or Fraulein Leather) will know what to expect. Nicely filmed, frequent location shots, small cast, minimal plot, no sync sound, jazzy slightly avant-garde score and an incredibly over blown narration from a syrupy voiced woman with a southern accent (it seems that the same woman narrates all of Millard's films). There is also plenty of sex and unlike many films of the time it's usually brightly lit so you can see what's going on.
Chic (Ric Lutz) has a shemp hair do, wears a big gold chain around his neck and a bright yellow jumpsuit (Chic is a man ahead of his time, the narrator tells us, in the twenty first century all men will dress like this!). He meets hippy flower child Renee (Rene Bond), they share a cigarette and head back to her pad for some pretty energetic sex. Two girls (who are unknown to me) get it on together then in a threesome with Chic. Renee solos with a vibrator while talking to Chic on the phone. Chic faints after someone on the street calls him a "hippy, commie faggot", the girls revive him in their own inimitable style.
