You need the MPEG1 codec installed on your system for this to play.This codec is not native to Windows 7. It's from 1997 and,apparently,is what most Japanese doujin game makers use.Go figure.
So....having said all that there is a way to re-encode this so you guys could see it without having to keep clicking...I changed the 4CC code with a hex editor (the 2 mentions of MPG1) to PIM1 and it worked like a charm!(See below for the link to get the PIM1 codec)I then muxed it into a MKV container:
