oh man there are very few shows bloodier than this, probably the only show (well it's a manga) I have really watched more bloody than this would have to be gantz.

It was a good show indeed.

I've only very recently been introduced to the world of anime.

Elfen Lied, Claymore, Basilisk, Cowboy Bebop, Hellsing, & Evangelion are where I'm at so far.

I'd recommend you watch death note, it's bloody like the other ones but the plots pretty good. There is an anime on gantz but the manga is much better.

Heh. Well, blood isn't actually a requirement for me. That's just the luck of the pick. Hellsing, Eva, & Bebop were suggestions as they are, I suppose, considered classics. I stumbled across Claymore & EL on my own. And, just for the record, Evangelion is now my number one favorite of all time.

I like something with a little depth to it. I can't understand (I know I'm going to get this wrong) movies/television series that go from action to slapstick comedy right in the middle of a scene. Then, it all flows back from comedy to action/drama/whatever. I just don't get that. It breaks the momentum to me.

Right now I'm half way through Gundam Wing and I'm desperately struggling to find a subbed copy of Rebuild.

If you want some DBZ style Anime watch Bleach, Naruto, And Hunter X Hunter.

HXH will remind you more of dragon ball though.

For a american show that is doing the anime take watch Teen Titans and Avatar: The last Airbender.

Well, if you want something different you can always watch fooly cooly aka flcl. It's 6 episodes long and is about as random as anything could get.
