Bellamy Young was born in Ashville, NC in 1970. Growing up she took an interest in performing and pageants. She graduated from Ashveille High School in 1987, the same year she won the Buncome County Junior Miss Title before taking the North Carolina state crown. She studied drama at Yale and did some work at Oxford. Her New York stage credits include Mary, the just off the bus newcomer, in Cy Coleman's The Life in addition to roles in Great Expectations, Merrily We Roll Along, and Randy Newman's Faust. She broke into television work on the ABC soap Another World, which led to guest spots on such varied shows as The X-Files, The Drew Carey Show and a memorable turn as a cold-blooded Canadian trophy wife on the "True North" episode of Law & Order. She has also had recurring roles on CSI Miami and Scrubs, while her only "starring" turn was on USA's short-lived tech western Peacemakers. Even with a successful career in televison, on stage and in film Bellamy has not forgotten her roots. In 2006 she was a co-producer, and in the cast for the film Simple Things, which was shot on location near her hometown of Ashville, NC.
