The ancient Greeks revered women probably more than any culture before or since. The proof is in the things they worshipped. The Greek gods included as many female gods as male ones. And the girlie gods were just as strong, fierce, benevolent or generous. They were equal to their male counterparts, not because they were Xerox copies of them, but because they were free to be as ferociously feminine as the males were masculine. Today there is almost no female worship left in the world. Today 'equality' means only that women are the same as men, paid the same for the same things, instead of more for what they do better. Today 'freedom' means freedom for female action heroes to kick butt - freedom to immitate men. Today 'feminine' means 'macho' - you're a real woman only if you give birth without pain-killers. There's a lot of talk these days about the 'divine feminine', but Mary Magdelene is divine only by way of the Christian god. In reality, femininity is divine because it's wonderful, not wonderful because it's divine. Beauty is the god we worship around here - the beauty of what is uniquely woman. We hope the beauty of Athena in today's gallery by top BiM model turned photographer, Maria, will inspire worship in you all.
