ImageHostGrabber & Pale Moon Support Thread

Welcome to the new ImageHostGrabber and Pale Moon Support thread.

ImageHostGrabber (aka IHG) is a very powerful image downloader in the form of an add-on for the Pale Moon (aka PM) browser, which is a fork of Firefox and has the look and feel of the old Firefox.

    For installation you will need:

    Pale Moon Browser
https://www.palemoon.org/download.shtml (choose whichever variant is suitable for your computer's Operating System)

Older Versions of Pale Moon installers can be found HERE and HERE. I do not recommend that you attempt to install from the Microsoft Store.

    IHG (version 1.7.0.6)
    https://imagehostgrabber.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=7
On first use IHG may ask you if you wish to update the hosts definitions - just say OK.

uBlock Origin (the best add blocker for Pale Moon)
    https://github.com/UCyborg/uBlock-for-firefox-legacy/releases

The only other add-on I'd recommend is the the PM version of 'I Don't Care About Cookies' which gets rid of those pesky nag boxes.
    https://addons.palemoon.org/addon/i-dont-care-about-cookies/

Try and avoid adding any more add-ons to PM for it to work smoothly.

    Notes:

    1) With some image hosts (notably Imagebam) you will need to open one image in your browser before sending the job to IHG. You only need to do this once per browser session.

    2) IHG has a very powerful thread sucker mode, but this option only becomes available from the second page onwards of a collection thread. For a collection with many pages this is useful if you wish to download the whole thread as a single job.

    3) It is possible to select which images you want to download from a page of a collection, but t is a bit of fraffing about:
    a. Click on the little down arrow next to the IHG icon on the address bar, and click 'Select pics on page'. (Or rt-click on the page and look for the option on the IHG menu).
    b. Click 'Invert selection'.
    c. Highlight the images you want to download. (If necessary click the 'toggle detailed/thumbnail view' button to display the thumbnail previews of each image.)
    d. Click 'Toggle the highlighted items'.
    e. Click 'OK'.

    Addendum
IHG was originally developed for Firefox but as FF has evolved over the years these older 'legacy' add-ons no longer work with it. However if you have an older operating system, such as XP or Vista, or just feel like having a tinker, I have found an ESR (Extended Support Release) version of Firefox at Softpedia.

Palemoon on linux is not going with stevepusser ppa anymore except for users on MX, it is doing it with this link:
    https://kannegieser.net/palemoon/

also, alternative IHG compatible browsers are Basilisk, Waterfox Classic and Seamonkey. Seamonkey is a little too much for me though, it tries to integrate all kinds of stuff that isn't necessary

Yes I do believe that IHG works on some other Firefox forks, such as Water Fox, but I've never tinkered with any of them.

I would just tetchily add that I've never had any problem with IHG handling anything posted at IMX.to - some of the other popular gallery rippers seem to have problems with IMX.

Re: ImageHostGrabber & Pale Moon Support Thread

I couldn't install the latest version of Pale Moon Browser.
    This window popped up.
I installed it from the Microsoft Store.
What earlier version of PM can I install?

The Microsoft Store is not great at these things - I suggest you follow the download link I posted above.

If push comes to shove there are plenty of older versions here that you could try:

I'm actually running the latest version - 33.8.0 albeit on a 32-bit version of Windows 10 - without any problems.

The Pale Moon site also has its own archive of older versions:

Re: ImageHostGrabber & Pale Moon Support Thread

AVX is a cpu instruction set capability. Palemoon has 3 versions of the latest 33.8 revision. AVX, AVX2 and sse2. Lack of AVX probably translates to an older generation AMD cpu which thusly would require the sse2 version. You can install a gratis program called speccy on windows that will give you description of your hardware and OS and other details. There will be a cpu section that will tell you what instruction sets your cpu is capable of.

I haven't used speccy in a few years, but back when i used it, it didn't give me any trouble.

I was able to install the latest version of Pale Moon, but only 32-bit.
I also installed IHG and uBlock Origin.
I'll check how everything works a little later.

If you right-click on the 'My PC' icon on your desktop and then click on 'Properties' it will give you your basic system specifications including whether you are using a 32-bit or 64-bit version of Windows under 'System Type'.

I have no idea, you'd have to try one or two older versions to see what works... or preferably upgrade to a more modern version of Windows.
